The Pipes of the Blast furnace are necessary to transport heat from the stove to the Melting Pot. Sometimes the pipes break, in which case it has to be repaired by either a player or one of the dwarfs Numpty or Thumpy. Repairing the pipes will grant 50 Crafting experience. The dwarfs only repair the pipes when on a designated blast furnace world, and when an hourly cost of 72,000 coins is paid to the Blast Furnace Foreman.
On worlds where lots of people are using the pump and the pipes break often, you can get around 35,000 Crafting experience an hour using this method.
