The bar dispenser is part of the Blast Furnace minigame. The metal melted in the melting pot is cast into bars using this machine. Players can collect the bars when they are cooled, or by wearing ice gloves. The cooling can be sped up with a bucket of water.

When using a bucket of water to cool down the glowing hot bars, all other players standing within five tiles of the dispenser will have their bars cooled as well, including Ironman accounts.^[1]

Up to 28 bars of a given type can be held by the bar dispenser.

^ Experience is granted to all players who have recently contributed to the manual operation of the Blast Furnace.

During manual operation of the blast furnace, a token amount of Smithing experience is awarded to all players who have recently helped operate the furnace at the moment bars are being dispensed to one of the participants.^[2] Methods of contribution include driving the pedals, refueling the stove, operating the pump, and keeping an eye on the temperature gauge. When the molten metal is poured into the dispenser, all contributing participants are given 1.5 Smithing experience, including the player whose bars are being cast in case they helped operate the machinery (on top of the regular experience granted for smelting the bars).

As it is not possible to contribute to the smelting process on official Blast Furnace worlds, given it is delegated to the dwarves working there, no token contribution experience is granted on those worlds. There is a cooldown period of 10 ticks (6 seconds) after receiving this experience bonus before it can be received again.

A comment left in the code for the token contribution experience describes its function as follows: // EVERYONE GETS XP HURRAH.^[3]
