A gate with a word puzzle lock is found in the Ghorrock Dungeon during the quest Secrets of the North. Opening the gate requires entering a password made up of a five letter word. The solution of the puzzle is found by reading the Duke note and filling in the gaps based on words found on the strange list. Each word on the strange list is accompanied by a symbol found on the strange cipher, which in order spells out the phrase "BOUND BY BLOOD". The password to open the gate is "BLOOD".

While passing through the gate after completing the puzzle, it is temporarily replaced by an open gate. After completing the quest, the gate is replaced by an identical unlocked gate.

The rotation of each dial is randomised each time the door is opened. The five dials on the gate can each be configured to one of ten letters:
