Efficient training
This copy was last processed on . The copied wiki revision is dated .
Efficient training refers to minimising the time spent actively training a skill by using the fastest methods available. For example, players looking to train Woodcutting with this playstyle would use tick manipulation to chop two teak logs every 3 game ticks.
Players factor efficiency into their playstyle at various degrees. Players looking to max their account might opt for methods that train multiple skills at once, whereas players looking solely to train a specific skill might use a method that's less efficient overall, but faster at training that specific skill. For example, someone looking to train Fishing efficiently might use tick manipulation to increase their chance of rolling for fish at harpoon spots; however, a player focusing on overall efficiency would do drift net fishing instead, to gain experience in both Fishing and Hunter.
Due to the high intensity of the most efficient methods, it's highly unrealistic to expect to maintain perfect experience rates for extended periods of time.
EHP
Players who focus heavily on efficient training often measure their account in EHP, or efficient hours played. These "efficient hours" assume that a player uses the fastest methods available, regardless of cost. For example, someone with exactly the experience needed for level 99 Prayer would be assumed to have 6.15 EHP, in the skill with the assumption that 26 minutes and 24 seconds were used to offer dagannoth bones at the chaos altar, and then another 6 hours, 8 minutes, and 53 seconds spend offering up superior dragon bones. This assumption assumes zero deaths and unlimited cash, both of which make it difficult to meet EHP goals for many players.
Zero-time methods
Zero-time methods refer to methods of training skills while doing other, primary, tasks. Specifically, these methods don't add any time to the original task being done, and utilise the space between inputs, such as clicking on obstacles while training Agility. Players focused on efficiency use these methods while completing other necessary tasks towards their end goal.
The follow table contains a non-exhaustive list of these methods.
