Axe Enthusiast is a grandmaster combat achievement which requires the player to kill Vardorvis after surviving for 3 minutes during his enrage phase, whilst never leaving the central 25 tiles of the fight area.

Vardorvis will initiate the enrage phase upon reaching ~33% of his health (~231 health); it is recommended to position at the centre at 250 health to avoid failing the achievement. Saradomin brews are essentially mandatory for this achievement.

Once enrage starts, a set of axes will appear after the previous set has been thrown off the arena. It is recommended to stay by the edges of the arena, so that only one or two axes (if both axes are lined up together) will hit at a time. An axe will deal ~35 damage if Protect from Melee is not active, which is reduced by ~50% if the prayer was active. Since Vardorvis' Head will also attack more frequently, players will either need to flick the incoming projectile or tank an axe hit instead. The player will also likely get hit by Darting Spikes, since trying to avoid it may cause the player to clip an axe instead. Alternatively, the player can leave Vardorvis around 150 health, which will only cause two iterations of spikes which can be avoided by stepping one tile away, though care should be taken to avoid moving out of the zone.

The elysian spirit shield and staff of the dead can be used to mitigate damage. Alternatively, justiciar armour and dinh's bulwark are acceptable, although less consistent than the elysian spirit shield.

There is no notification when the achievement starts and ends, so players are recommended to use a timer to ensure three minutes pass before killing off Vardorvis.
