Goopy snakes^[1] can be found jumping out of the Pool of Slime beneath the Ectofuntus. Unlike most NPCs, they cannot be examined, and serve no purpose.

In Issue 8 of Postbag from the Hedge, a player wrote a letter to them, addressing them as Slime in the Pool of Ectofuntus. In their response, they claimed to be creatures that have been evolving for a very long time, and that they only gained the ability to jump out of their pool in the past millennia, "give or take an eon or twelve". They expressed a hope that in a few more eons, they would gain the ability to successfully jump up the stairs and out of the temple; they claimed to have attempted this in the past, but described the experience as "pure torture", although they do enjoy slinking back down them. ^[2]

• There are actually four goopy snakes: two on the ground floor, and two on the 1^st floor. The two on the 1^st floor are presumably intended to give the illusion of being able to see the snakes on the ground floor from a level above, but the 1^st floor snakes are able to move around (unlike those on the ground floor), and as a result may become desynchronized from their ground floor counterparts.
