- Though unconfirmed, it is likely that Bast is a reference to the book series, Kingkiller Chronicles, and its character Bast.
- They are both bartenders.
- The book-version of Bast is a faun-like creature with goat legs. The Runescape-version of Bast runs a bar called the The Legless Faun.
- The second Kingkiller book is titled Wise Man's Fear. The Runescape-version of Bast says "A wise man once told me to never fear a drink..."
- During Trailblazer Reloaded League, Bast would sell stew for 25 coins.
