The Smashed cage is the result of the player rolling a large boulder downhill onto the Unicorn and the cage trapping it in the Underground Pass during the Underground Pass quest, it can be searched for a Unicorn horn. The horn is required to proceed further in the quest, and the only way to obtain it is through killing the unicorn by smashing the cage with the boulder.
