A player filling a bowl in the trough

The Lava trough is found in the elemental workshop near the fire elementals. During the Elemental Workshop I quest, players must take lava from the trough using a stone bowl and then use it to light the nearby furnace.

Using a bucket, jug, pot, or bowl on the trough yields a unique dialogue message stating those containers are unusable.
