Kiteshields are shields worn in the shield slot. They are normally used as a melee protection and provide good defence against all melee attack types. They can be smithed from all types of metals except for black and white.

Kiteshields have slightly higher melee and ranged defence bonuses than square shields, but they are also more expensive. Kiteshields also provide a negative Ranged attack bonus and a higher Magic attack penalty than square shields, and as such kiteshields are generally used only for melee combat.

Despite their defensive bonuses, due to their overall lack of offensive stats it is rare to see members using a kiteshield over a defender for anything other than cosmetic reasons.
