Eldritch necklace

The eldritch necklace was a scrapped reward from the Doom of Mokhaiotl, replacing the previously pitched eldritch veil. The necklace would have required 80 Magic to wear it, along with completing the third delve level of the boss. It would have been created by combining a demonic mark with an occult necklace, which requires 65 Crafting and Runecrafting in order to create.
The necklace had the following stats, as shown in the Varlamore: The Final Dawn Reward Proposal Updates blog:
| Item | Attack bonuses | Defence bonuses | Other | ||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eldritch necklace | 0 | 0 | 0 | +20 | 0 | +10 | +10 | +10 | +10 | +10 | 0 | 0 | +7% | +3 | |
Notably, the necklace lacked the minimum hit passive the revised eldritch veil had, which was due to concerns about powercreep.[1] On death in a player-versus player scenario, the eldritch necklace would be dropped as its base components to the killer.
On 4 February 2025, the demonic mark was made untradeable, while the eldritch necklace would remain tradeable. It is unknown if the demonic mark would have been destroyed or dropped as coins to the killer in this scenario.
Due to players feeling that the proposed rewards did not fit Old School RuneScape's first ever enrage boss, concerns over how the rewards continued to buff the dominant Tumeken's shadow further while not filling in the gap between it and worse Magic weapons like the Sanguinesti staff, and confusion over the low creation level requirement (as the then-recent amulet of rancour required 86 Crafting to create), the eldritch necklace was scrapped on 5 February 2025, and was be replaced with a completely new reward, the confliction gauntlets.
