Tortoise shells are dropped by tortoises, who can drop up to three shells at a time per kill. They can be sold to Barlak in Dorgesh-Kaan for 600 coins. The shells must be unnoted in order to sell them to Barlak.

Barlak does NOT grant any Crafting experience for this item. He will only grant Crafting experience for perfect shells, a rarer counterpart to tortoise shells.
