Neilan Redmark[1] was an inexperienced necromancer who came to Great Kourend from the mainlands. He felt snubbed by the people of Arceuus and stole a book on necromancy from the Arceuus Library to try and conjure up something to impress them.[2] He fled westward to a cave in the Kebos Lowlands,[3] where he started practicing necromancy on dead rats.[4] Believing that he needed to work on something bigger, he recovered a rotten bear corpse in the Kebos Swamp and brought it to a cave by the shore.[5] He resurrected the corpse as a headless beast, which abruptly killed him.

During Getting Ahead the player tracks down Neilan's headless beast and kills it in the cave, where the remains of Neilan Redmark can be found alongside his journal.
