The mahogany feeder can be built in the pet feeder space of the menagerie in a player-owned house. It requires 59 Construction to build and gives 862 experience when built. The player must have a hammer and a saw in their inventory to build it.

A kitten following the player will not become hungry or lonely while in the POH if they have installed a pet feeder.^[1][2] The feeder will only take care of the kitten if it is inside the house at the moment it would have become hungry or asked for attention. If the idle logout timer is set to the maximum 30 minutes, the game client can be left unattended in the player-owned house, and a cat can be safely raised with very little player input while AFK, which is useful for iron accounts farming death runes by selling cats to civilians.
