Jed's Twitter account was suspended in September 2018,^[2] shortly before it was announced that a member of staff working on Old School RuneScape had been dismissed from employment by Jagex.^[3] This was later confirmed to be Jed by ex-Mod Mat K in an interview with ex-Mod Shauny.

As a result of the dismissal, affected users who had lost coins and other items in Old School RuneScape as a result of the staff member's misconduct had their items returned to them, and received a message in the Message Centre stating:

In a subsequent 2021 interview, Mat K provided further details as to the nature of Jed's offence: using the account credentials of other employees, he deliberately granted appeals incorrectly, causing players to lose large amounts of wealth and items and also threatening the careers of employees who were presumed to have granted the incorrect appeals. He also dropped the untradeable items of the players whose accounts he hacked, which Mat K considered the most malicious aspect of his activity due to the spiteful nature of the action and lack of monetary reward associated with it. ^[4]
