The messenger is a man who will deliver an important letter to the player after completion of the Desert Treasure I quest. He appears randomly near the player to deliver the message, indicating the beginning of The Frozen Door miniquest.
If a player destroys the important letter before reading it, he will keep reappearing and redelivering the letter, much to his chagrin.
Whilst the sender of the message is unknown, the messenger is clearly afraid of them, as shown by his responses after the third time a player destroys the letter.
