An important letter is given to the player by a messenger, who appears to players shortly after completing Desert Treasure I. Upon reading the letter, players will start The Frozen Door miniquest. After reading the letter, the letter cannot be reobtained once destroyed.
The author of the letter is unknown as they only identify themselves as an "admirer", but they intentionally deceive the player by tricking them into opening the Ancient Prison, where Nex, one of Zaros' most powerful generals, is imprisoned.

Dear [player name],
I recently acquired some information that I found to be quite exciting. I have been a great admirer of your work for some time now, so I wanted to share it with you.
Deep beneath Trollheim, there is an ancient dungeon where four armies are locked in endless battle. Within this dungeon, there is a frozen door, behind which lies a treasure unlike any other. However, the door was sealed long ago by the leaders of the four armies.
I believe the treasure behind that door will be of great appeal to you. If I am correct in this assumption, then seek out the leaders of the four armies. Each of them should have a piece of the key needed to unlock the door. Assemble the key, and you will have everything you need.

Trivia
- Prior to the release of Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire, the opening paragraph of the letter stated that "We have sadly not yet had the pleasure of meeting". It is likely this was changed to imply the writer of the letter was Sliske, who had indeed met the player as Asgarnia Smith, whilst also suggesting that he had played a role in freeing Azzanadra.
