The default login screen

The appearance of the main menu, for the most part remains the same throughout the year. They are usually changed to commemorate major content releases, as well as during Halloween and Christmas events.

This page serves as a gallery to display past appearances and elements of the main menu.

Login screens

A gallery of all previous login screens. The Official Client uses a larger version of the login screen, extending beyond the flames and showing steps below, the Mobile client uses the same image but may be cut off depending on the aspect ratio of the display.

Login backgrounds

For Java the background size is 765x503 pixels, except the RS2 beta which has a slightly larger size of 789×532 pixels.

Official Client

The Official Client background size is 1089x671 pixels. Mobile uses this as well but had its own background before February 14 2019 with a size of 1089x503.

Login Screen Competitions

A couple of login screens were made by the community and chosen through competitions, typically by a community vote of 4 finalists, but for Kebos, Dragon Slayer 2 and Monkey Madness 2, the finalist/final screen was picked internally. This list is only what has been published in blogs.

Login Titles

A gallery of all title sprites for the login screen, Leagues, Deadman & Quest Speedrunning titles are shown when the login screen has the respective world selected.

Login torch flames

A gallery of possible symbols that come out of the torches. While the unique sprites for an update typically all have an equal chance to appear, this is dependent on the distribution of slots in the cache as there is only 12.

This happens either due to an error like Hunter, (Paw takes up 5 slots, Kebbit and Butterfly takes 2), or the amount of unique sprites does not fit neatly, such as Birthday and Fossil island which contain 5 (fossil island has the spiral take up 4 slots, while birthday has the cake, hand and circle 5 take up 2 slots with others being 3), and Shattered Relics and 2024 Halloween which has 10 (both let the first take up 3 slots while each relic/pumpkin take 1).

Some sprites also have various other errors, Christmas, Halloween, Monkey Madness II and Summoning all have errors with the images themselves such as a line at the top and pixels from other tiles in an assumed spritegrid. These are not noticeable in game as due to the dynamic nature of the flames single pixels will disappear and anything else blends in.
