Dr. Darius Gnomalus is a gnome and Head of Psychology at the Gnome Institute of Knowledge, a scientific research organisation. He was interviewed for the paper Gnomic Negotiations, a text about gnomish humour.
During the interview, Dr. Gnomalus was asked about his opinion as to whether gnomes used humour as a self defence mechanism against insecurity, primarily their height insecurity. He responded negatively, attacking the idea and claiming gnomes could be serious, before he exploded, sending bits of gnome everywhere. Dr. Gnomalus then revealed that it was a synthetic replica he had created as a joke and made comments about the interviewer's gullibility and possible oxygen deprivation, causing the interviewer to terminate the interview in disgust.[1]
