Tinderbox is scenery that is used to provide an item spawn of a tinderbox. It has the appearance of an item including an orange name and red dot on the minimap, but unlike normal item spawns does not disappear after being picked up.

You can only have 5 tinderboxes in your inventory before being told you already have plenty, although drop tricking bypasses this.
