The Carlyle Group is a global investment firm. They had their IPO on NASDAQ in May of 2012. In 2020, it was the world's second largest private equity firm by capital raised over the previous five years. By 2025, its rank has fallen to sixth largest by the same metric.

In January 2021, the Carlyle Group acquired Jagex from Macarthur Fortune Holding.[1]

In February 2024, they agreed to sell Jagex to investment firms CVC Capital Partners and Haveli Investments in a deal reportedly worth £910mn.[2]

Trivia

  • Carlyle have featured in two notable documentaries: Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 and William Karel's The World According to Bush.
