An air rune is a special type of air rune used during The Slug Menace quest. It is made by using a blank air rune on the Air Altar in the normal way and is used to unlock a mysterious door in the newly discovered shrine beneath Witchaven.
In order to unlock the door, the player must also have made a special earth rune, a special fire rune, a special mind rune, and a special water rune.
It cannot replace a normal air rune during spells.

Success chance
The chance of successfully channelling the energies of the Air Altar into a blank air rune scales with Runecraft level, ranging from around 59% at level 30 up to 99% at level 99.[1]
