Imcandoria was the former city of the Imcando dwarves, located on Acheron.[1] The region around Imcandoria was also home to a group of unspecified giants who were metalworkers, as well as several Auspah tribes; in addition, they are known to have traded with Fremennik tribes.[2]
History
The strange idol and the storms
Towards the end of the Second Age, an Imcando acolyte had discovered a strange idol with odd scratched markings along the beach of the Isle of Garmr. Presuming it to be a runic relic of the Fremennik tribes,[3] the acolyte sent the idol to the Elders of Imcandoria for safekeeping.[4]
Two months after the idol was sent away, storms around Imcandoria began to grow more and more ferocious, so much that the dwarves were forced to seek refuge in the Forge of Giants.[5] Though the giants allowed them to stay, dwindling food supplies compelled the dwarves to organise a return to Imcandoria.[6]
The return to Imcandoria
Three months after taking refuge in the Forge of Giants, a journey into Imcandoria was planned.[7] Having seen omens of death in their forges, the giants suggested journeying to Imcandoria with reinforcements, and had given the dwarves a fiery jewel to bargain with the Auspah tribes that live around the city, ensuring that the tribes would act as bodyguards during their expedition.[8]
Upon arriving, the dwarves found the city empty.[9] Inside the city temple, they discovered piles of bodies and pools of blood. A grotesque mass with three bulbous eyes and clawed tentacles had taken residence there,[10] while the Elders of Imcandoria had been entirely corrupted. Covered in blood and sludge, the Elders kept chanting incantations in an unknown language around the creature.[11]
The grotesque creature, upon noticing the Imcando dwarves and the Auspah, engaged them in battle, accompanied by the Elders.[12] The ensuing fight set the temple ablaze, and the Imcando Elders, still cackling as they burned, were presumed to have perished.[13]
Exile and Aftermath
Imcandoria had fallen, forcing the dwarves to abandon their homeland and retreat back to the Isle of Garmr. With no home to return to, the remaining Imcando dwarves were then promised a new home by Saradomin,[14] who offered to help them lay siege to Lassar and claim the fortress as their own in the aftermath of the Betrayal of Zaros.
Before departing, Gulbrand, the Highseer of the Isle of Garmr, documented the events he bore witness to in a heavy tome inscribed on rock paper,[15][16] and placed it by the entrance hall in the Necropolis, to serve as a warning not to travel back to Imcandoria.[17]
Led by Yonrith Lovakengj, Imcandoria’s survivors crossed the sea and marched on Lassar, ultimately destroying the fortress. Under the influence of the strange idol, the dwarves brought it from Imcandoria to Lassar, where Sliske seized it and took it into the hidden Lassar Undercity for his own experiments.[18] Once the surface of Lassar was secured, the Imcando dwarves began constructing their new city amid the ruins, ultimately naming it Camdozaal, while the Undercity remained sealed with the idol.
