Real life is a fantasy, sporadically referenced by various inhabitants spread across Gielinor. The official position of the RuneScape Council remains that rumours of a 'real life' are a dangerous and nihilistic distraction meant to lead adventurers astray from contributing to the overall experience gain of productive society.

As such, it is the duty of every conscientious adventurer to swiftly report such references to 'real life' and to chastise any peers suspected of engaging in 'real life' activities. A non-exhaustive list of such rumours is given below:

NPC dialogue

  • The Banker tutor advises the player not to set their bank pin to their "real life" bank PIN or birthday.[1] It is not clear what is meant by this reference to a 'realer' life.
  • Upon asking the Lumbridge Guide about item scamming, he will respond that there are many helpful players in the realm of Gielinor. However, he mentions there are also some crooks, just as in the realm of 'real life'.[2]

Have you spoken to the minotaur? What's he like in real life?

God letter and Postbag content

  • In the 18th issue of the God letters, Zamorak states that Guthix uses intelligent apes to predict the outcomes of certain actions before they occur in 'real life'.[3]
  • In a letter addressed to Saradomin, a player asserts that the god of wisdom and order ought to be able to eat sushi, because the god also eats sushi in 'real life'.[4]
  • A letter sent in to the Mime by BladofIce65 claims that aforementioned person is a mime 'in real life'.[5]
  • The Wise Old Tips on how to bake a redberry pie contains a preliminary warning to keep a wise old person at hand in case one does not have level 99 Cooking in 'real life'.[6]
