Bot world

Bot world was removed after an update. As the contents of this page no longer exist in Old School RuneScape, this article is preserved for historical purposes.

Bot worlds were game worlds which are specifically used for gathering players suspected of Macroing, also referred to as botting. Players that the Macro-detecting system determines may be botting were moved from their chosen world to one of two existing designated Bot worlds, 385 and 386. These worlds were intentionally left off the game client's list of available worlds. However, with the addition of the in-game world switcher, they became accessible for everyone. Along the introduction of Free-to-Play, world 385 was turned into a F2P botting world, while 386 kept being a P2P world.

Players could find themselves moved to these worlds more often when training skills or doing other repetitive tasks. Players moved to these worlds when they were not botting did not have to worry about being banned though.

When a player was moved into a Bot world, the game would stop responding for a small period of time. The text chat box would reset as if the player has just logged in. The transition was usually very obvious to players who are watching the screen when the transition occurs. Because it was a world change, the bank PIN would have to be re-entered the next time a Bank was visited.

It was technically possible to log into a Bot world manually, and is safe to do so confirmed by Mod Weath. This could be achieved by manually navigating to http://oldschool.runescape.com/game?world=385 (F2P) or http://oldschool.runescape.com/game?world=386 (P2P) in a web browser and logging in as usual. These worlds now show in the world switcher.

Some players were upset with the implementation of these worlds, the following being some of those reasons:

• No player poll was started for voting on their implementation
• Many players that were not macroing are put in these worlds
• It caused normal servers to have fewer bots, leaving players in those worlds to believe that Macroing was less of a problem than it actually is
